I have a quick post today for you to share my favorite products of the month. These are some of my go-to things that I have been relying on and am happy to share them with you!
Foundation – Makeup Forever HD Foundation & Makeup Forever Mat Velvet+
Lately, my go-to foundation has actually been a mix of foundations. I am super late to the makeup game when it comes to Makeup Forever HD Foundation but when I found my perfect color I knew I was in the holy grail range of foundations, but something was missing. I needed longevity, and some matte-qualities to the foundation that would help me and my oily skin out. I found the trick to this and it’s mixing in some Makeup Forever Mat Velvet+ Foundation. That’s right, 50/50 of these two bad boys gets the job done. I get the dewy, natural finish to my skin and the longevity and matte properties form the Mat Velvet+. Amazing. I highly recommend mixing the foundations that you have to get the best properties out of each.
Concealer – MAC Full Coverage Foundation
This is probably a little unorthodox, but I use a high coverage foundation as my concealer. I absolutely love using the MAC Full Coverage Foundation underneath my foundation to get rid of any discoloration I have underneath my eyes. I chose a more orange-y tone so that it counteracts any purple or blue tones I have and it brightens up my face perfectly. This creamy, smooth formula glides on and stays put. I don’t need anything else when wearing this.
Highlight – Benefit Highbeam
We’re going old school guys. Remember when this beautiful liquid iridescent pearl was all the rage because JLO was rumored to love this product? I definitely do. Lately, I’ve been going through my makeup collection – “shopping my stash” if you will – and I rediscovered this gem. Why did I ever stop using this? The beautiful iridescent pearl is the perfect highlight. Because it is a liquid it adds more depth to my skin, something it desperately needs during these winter months.
I haven’t used this stuff as much as I have this past month since middle school. We’re back at it. We’re back at Studio Fix Powder. This notoriously heavy powder foundation has been the perfect way to set my makeup this past month. What I realized was I was using this all wrong. I definitely did not need the dense sponge that it comes with but a light hand with a delicate brush is all you need to dispense this magical powder.
This heavenly mascara duo has changed my lashes. I don’t know if it’s only the primer or only the mascara, they both are great on their own, but when combined it does magical false lash-y things to me eyes. I know, the name of the mascara is a little too much, but when you get past the humor of it, you realize how great the mascara really is. Combined with the primer, it is the best. I bought the primer because I was having a lot of problem with my mascara falling down throughout the day. This has solved that problem, and beautifully as well.
Lip Combo – MAC Lip Pencil in Soar + MAC Lipstick in Hue
I know I am typical in wanting to wear the lip pencil that Kylie Jenner wears, but I swear guys, I’ve had this one in my collection for years! I just now dusted it off and have started using it more… It is a darker shade, so when pared with a pale pink lipstick you get this beautiful blended gradient of colors and it looks sophisticated and very en trend. I love this pair together.
Cleanser – Bliss Fabulous Foaming Face Wash
This one step cleanser is what I use on those lazy nights when I don’t want to spend a lot of time removing my makeup. Surprisingly, this face wash gets rid of everything. I do a two-step clean with this and am assured that my skin is makeup free and ready for some nourishing moisturizer and I’m ready to hit the bed. I clean my face with half a pump of this and some water to get the initial grit, grime, and makeup (including thick, sooty mascara) off and rinse that off. I then do that all over again to make sure that there is no residual muck that I don’t want on my face. I do switch up my cleansers but this is the one that I’ve been reaching for the most. As you can see.
Lip Treatment – Rosebud Salve
I have a problem with acne and I have this sneaky suspicion that the lip balm I was using at night had something to do with it. After much trial and error, I have found one that nourishes my lips and also doesn’t cause me to break out. Winner, winner, chicken dinner. This stuff seems to me like a more finely processed vaseline – not the best description but it has a very familiar consistency but if you try this at night you will awaken with the most beautifully plump and moisturized lip. It’s genius in a pan.
Clear Scalp Therapy Strong Lengths Nourishing Shampoo + L’Oreal Paris Evercreme Sulfate-Free Nourishing Conditioner
I know I am not the most trusted source for hair care, but I do have hair, and do love trying out different products on it. Lately, I have been using this combo as my shampoo and conditioner and honest to god, my hair has never felt more soft and clean. I made the mistake of trying to use a small amount of the conditioner but you really need to go to town with it. It won’t lather up like traditional conditioner because there are no sulfates but it’s a true miracle worker. I am generally one that doesn’t need to blow dry or style my hair, it kind of does that on it’s own, but this stuff takes it to another level. No frizz, only soft suppleness.
Well there you have it! These are definitely not all the products that I have been using, but are the ones that I’ve been enjoying the most.
Do you guys like these kinds of posts? I hope you do because I love talking about makeup and skincare. I do like things beyond food too…:)
Have a lovely weekend everyone!
